Sensory information
Plan for music, commentary, engine noise, lighting and vessel movement, with practical information from our vessel accessibility guides.

Sound and atmosphere
Dining cruises can include recorded music, commentary and live performances. Spirit of Elston does not have hearing loops. On whale watching vessels, engine noise is more noticeable during transit and becomes quieter when the engines are slowed near whales.
Live commentary is broadcast through onboard speakers. Whale song may also be played through the sound system when conditions and whale behaviour allow.
Lighting and movement
Spirit of Elston has soft lighting on the lower deck at night and low, uneven lighting on the upper deck. Ask the crew for help if you need assistance moving around.
Whale watching travels into the open ocean, where swell and vessel movement vary with the weather. Dining cruises stay within inshore waterways. Consider the setting when choosing your experience.
Onboard support
There is no dedicated sensory room or quiet space aboard Spirit of Elston, Spirit of Migaloo II or Kaiala. Sensory kits, including pop bubble fidget toys and earplugs, are available on request, along with complimentary children's activity packs.
